The headwaters of West Branch Pine Creek begin in the mountains of northern Susquehannock State Forest and it flows east into Pine Creek at Galeton, PA. All of West Branch Pine Creek Watershed lies within Potter County, PA with the majority of its headwaters on state forest land. The monitoring station is located west of Galeton, PA near the confluence with Pine Creek.
