The Susquehanna River Basin Commission (Commission) is continuing its Public Water Supply Assistance Program by offering a technical workshop for Operators, Managers, Board Members / Trustees, and Consultants of Public Water Systems to provide guidance on the Commission’s Groundwater Withdrawal Approval Process. The workshop is designed to provide guidance to small public water suppliers and their consultants on the requirements for the preparation and implementation of aquifer testing plans and groundwater withdrawal applications .
The Commission recognizes the challenges facing smaller municipal water systems to keep abreast of current regulatory requirements. Workshop attendees will have the ability to interact directly with Commission staff members that review and recommend approval of aquifer testing plans and groundwater withdrawal applications. Commission staff will address pertinent topics including: data collection methods, aquifer testing procedures, planning for the renewal of expiring approvals, and environmental / interagency review.
The workshop is being offered free of charge and is approved by the New York State Department of Health (NYDOH) for 5.50 contact hours for New York-certified water operators (drinking water contact hours). Certificates of attendance will be available for those who are seeking continuing education credits for Licensed professional Engineers and Geologists. The workshop is limited to the first 60 participants who complete registration. Remote online workshop participation is also available, but online participants are not eligible for water contact hours.
